Today I haven't had the chance to get outside much as I've been busy writing emails and helping my parents do some jobs. However earlier I was helping my dad fit the roof box to his car and heard some House Martins and Swifts fly over and when I glanced up I caught of a glimpse of a falcon silhouette flying away but I'm not sure what species it was - probably a Peregrine or Hobby.
This afternoon I decided to open the mist net in my garden and it was a good job I did! In the last hour or so I've caught two Robins, a Dunnock, a Great Tit, a Goldfinch and a stunning male House Sparrow! The House Sparrow is the first one I've caught in my garden, despite them being a fairly common bird here. It is also my first one as a C ringer and only the 3rd one I've ever ringed! I won't leave the net open much longer as the wind is picking up a bit now.
Stay wild,
Josie
